Day 3

 London to Paris

We slept in in an attempt to kick any jet lag to the curb. We made it up by 9:45 and were out the door by 10:30ish.  The weight of my backpack gave me flashbacks to last summer’s Camino walk. Achy back and suitcase in tow we headed to London.  A few  train stops away and then we headed straight for the train station so we could check our bags and not lug them around with us all over the streets of London. 3 bag check places later we finally found a spot that had room. The smell of this place resembled a mix of body odor and a potentially decomposing body but in every effort to not lug around 2 suitcases and 2 backpacks we were desperate. Spent the next few hours wandering London, going to see the Crown Jewels and then made our way back to the train station for our journey to Paris. Here’s where things started to get a bit interesting. Due to the long queue at the station our train left later than it was supposed to. We had booked 11pm-1 am tickets to Moulin Rouge and with the delay we were arriving at 10:45. Obviously we weren’t able to store our 7 suitcases at the show so we quick found a hotel that was willing to take them for us for 10 euros a piece. We found an Uber at the station and quick dropped off our bags and changed into our dresses in some sort of meeting room. Thankfully when we were in full stress-mode Kristi called and talked to someone at Moulin Rouge who ensured us that we would be let in even if we were slightly late. Missed the first few minutes of the show then sat down and caught our breath and started into our bottles of champagne. Kristi’s teenage daughters were along for the trip. They were quick to notice and point out that the girl “aren’t wearing shirts”. I don’t think we were fully prepared for the amount or level of nudity for the show. All in all we survived. Kristi and I likely had slightly too much champagne and ended up getting everything something at Chicken King and roughly 3 am. Thankfully sleeping in is a possibility before exploring all we can in Paris tomorrow.
